Book of Normals: Introduction
Sinclair is proud to present you with a massive amount of normal data generated by Sinclair for the different lineages of miniature swine it is producing and distributing. These data are offered to veterinarians, biomedical investigators, preclinical clients, and university staff to facilitate research when using our porcine animal models.
Reference clinical pathology data (hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis) were generated on healthy in-house predose, post-dose control animals, or colony animals. Samples were collected by venipuncture and submitted to reference clinical pathology laboratories, such as ANTECH, Southhaven, MS or ANTECH GLP, Morrisville, NC. All datasets generated were completely quality controlled to eliminate any errors and were summarized by gender, number (N), mean, standard deviation, and observed ranges (min, max) for each parameter. When sample size was below 50, data is reported as observed. When the N reached 50 or more per gender, outliers were removed when present and 95% interfractile reference intervals were calculated. The weight range and age of animals and timeframe of collection were also recorded for reference.
Additionally this data package contains a broad range of normal data including, but not limited to, body weights, organ weights, gross necropsy findings, heart and vascular measurements, intraocular pressures (IOP), and EKG data as collected by trained and qualified in-house staff.
When summarized data was extracted from the literature, appropriate credits are given.
These normal data were generated from the miniature swine lineages produced by Sinclair under specific conditions. Because of different genetic background, production environment and husbandry, Sinclair strongly advises the end users that this normal data is unlikely to be relevant for lineages of miniature swine produced and sold by other vendors. The end users should contact these vendors to obtain their normal data.
