Sinclair BioResources is the most established miniature swine supplier in the USA. Sinclair BioResources can condition, alter or select miniswine to your exact specifications from our sizable census of 4 lineages housed in two states. We offer surgical OVX, castration, VAP placement, and diagnostic imaging by DEXA, US, CT, MRI, standard radiography for bone density, growth plate closure, whole body composition, heart and vessel size, skin or hypodermal fat thicknesses, etc... We can perform pre-shipment biopsies, perform diabetes induction and stabilization, or administer test article to shave off your timeline. Atherosclerotic, dyslipidemic or hypercholesterolemic pigs can be fairly rapidly produced by dietary means. Other models include wound management, ophthalmology, hemorrhage and trauma, cardiovascular device, ischemia and GIT models. We have worked with many clients to develop unique models over the years and encourage clients to publish their findings.
Miniature Swine Production Tailored to the Research Community
Based on 40 years of swine production experience, Sinclair's production facility is designed around a revolutionary production system tailored specifically for the special needs of the miniature swine. An integrated socialization and enrichment program provides human and conspecific contacts and environmental enhancements. Husbandry emphasizes daily human contact, routine treat and toy offerings, visual contact with adjacent pens, elimination of nose to nose contact in young animals, and minimal regrouping to maintain established social hierarchies. The inherent production stresses associated with weaning, animal movement, and regrouping are greatly minimized. The animal flow is tightly controlled and friendly to both animals and people, and ultimately gives you, our client, a superior miniature swine. Sinclair offers four lineages of miniature swine:
Scientists now have the benefit of selecting a miniature swine strain that best fits their research endeavor. Our facility in Maine produces the micro-Yucatan™ and the Yucatan miniature swine. Our Missouri facility produces the Sinclair, Hanford™, and the Yucatan miniature swine. The miniature swine are delivered either in our AAALAC accredited acclimatized trucks or by approved airfreight companies. All animals are well conditioned through a well-established socialization program prior to shipping.
Large Animal Model Production for Your Research Program:
Sinclair specializes in the production of animal models. In fact, Sinclair is the only private company primarily involved in large animal model development. Sinclair has contributed to and is experienced in a number of animal models available to our clients, namely:
Sinclair continues to offer complete Support for the animal sales. Sinclair is very experienced in pre-shipping alterations, which are performed in the spirit of GLP. Common pre-shipping alterations include: vascular access ports placement, high cholesterol diet feeding, castration/oophorectomy, diabetes induction, test article administration, biopsies collection for autotransplantation, etc. Furthermore, Sinclair is a full service CRO, offering small and large animal in-vivo pharmacology, toxicology, and medical device research in a regulatory environment. Sinclair also provides an array of bio-samples in rodents, cats, dogs, miniature swine, goats, and sheep.
Sinclair complies with a number of agencies. We are USDA licensed as a breeder (43-A-5480) and research facility (43-R-0122). We are AAALAC accredited and GLP compliant. The animal care and veterinary program is in compliance with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. Sinclair has an Assurance Statement filed with PHS.
